Enjoy Eagan’s Top 5 Favorites at the Fair
The Minnesota State Fair. The Great Minnesota Get-Together. It’s known for deep-fried food on a stick, massive crowds and a well-deserved ranking as one of the largest and most popular state fairs in the United States. The Eagan CVB team has compiled their top five favorites of the Minnesota State Fair and let’s just say it was hard to narrow it down to only five!
1. People Watching

If I had to choose my one favorite thing at the Minnesota State Fair (and, believe me, there are many) I would say it’s the people watching. I love nothing more than grabbing an Adirondack chair at the band shell, an ice-cold beverage in hand, and just people watching (bonus points is being able to check off items on my State Fair Bingo card). And, the band shell offers free live music throughout the day so it’s a great place to take a break, meet up with friends and plan out the next stop during what is always a very long day enjoying everything that is the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

2. CHS Miracle of Birth Center

via Minnesota State Fair
Besides the fantastic food (give me all the deep-fried pickles), every year when at the Minnesota State Fair, I must visit the CHS Miracle of Birth Center. This amazing place is where over 200 calves, lambs, goats and piglets are born and of course, the result is utter cuteness! While you “ooh” and “ahh” at the sights, you can also gain a lot of knowledge from the veterinarians and experts about animal agriculture production and the birthing process. I’m not the only one who has a love for adorable animals, because the Miracle of Birth Center is the most popular exhibit at the Fair.

3. Delight of the Dairy Building

via Pioneer Press
Whether it’s enjoying a sensational sundae or a magnificent malt, in my opinion, no trip to the Fair is complete without making a stop at the Dairy Building. Despite the fact that thousands of fair-goers visit the Dairy Building on a daily basis during the Great Minnesota Get-Together, I’m always amazed by how quickly all of the lines move. As an added bonus, I thoroughly enjoy watching the Princess Kay of the Milky Way sculptures being created, especially when it’s an incredibly warm day!!
– Brent, President/CEO
4. Tradition

via Minnesota State Fair
My favorite thing about going to the Minnesota State Fair is the traditions of walking through the buildings – technology (to see what is new), home improvements, 4H, Educational building and the Merchandise Mart to name a few! It would not be a visit to the fair without a stroll through the Grandstand to check out the stuff for sale! Our visit to the Fair always includes the favorite foods: Pronto Pups, French fries, cotton candy and whatever else smells inviting! Some years we’ve gone to the Grandstand for a show…the best was Keith Urban in 2015!!
– Kathy, Sales Director
5. New Food

My favorite thing about going to the Minnesota State Fair is trying the new foods! We usually end up going every other year or so, and I’m always itching to try the newest contenders. My all-time favorite new food debuted a few years back, Alligator on a Stick. Some of my more classic favorites include turkey legs, corn on the cob and caramel apple sundaes!
